How to Make Yogurt at Home
With the effect of Covid-19 pandemic, we have seen that many products that we supply from outside can actually be made at home. With the transition to working from home, we even started to try the tastes we enjoyed in our own kitchen. In addition to these, we started to make it at home instead of getting ready from the market in some of the basic foods of our kitchen, as well as every meal on our tables. One of those foods is yogurt. Considering the hygiene rules and additives used, it is not a distant idea to make a delicious yogurt nowadays where we can work from home and spend relatively more time for ourselves in our kitchen. But if you ask what is the difference of home yogurt from ready-made yogurt, you can find the answers later in this article.
Benefits of homemade yogurt
Yogurt is just one of our miraculous foods that has endless benefits to the body. It positively changes the resistance of our whole body, especially with its benefits to the stomach and intestines. Thanks to the probiotics it contains, not only the intestines and stomachs, it has numerous benefits from colds, cancer, upper respiratory tract infections to dental health in all areas of the body. Homemade yoghurts contain higher amounts of probiotics than ready-made yogurts. The additives contained in ready-made yoghurts prevent the probiotics from losing their effect and absorption of calcium by the body. Even if it stays in the cabinet for weeks, its ability to stand without mold, not to sour and spoil reveals how much chemical is used. The artificial bacteria used cause the yogurt to not water and turn sour, but the negative effects of these artificial bacteria on the human body and health are not emphasized. With the effect of industrialization, ready-made yogurts, which turn into a completely commercial vehicle, reverse all the benefits we have listed and invite cancer. When all the angles are considered in detail, we understand that the features we list as the benefits of yogurt are actually provided only by homemade yogurt.
Fermantation of the homemade yogurt
If you want to make a good yogurt, the most important point to consider is milk. All of the pasteurized milk purchased from the markets undergo certain processes to prolong its shelf life and is exposed to many chemicals just like yoghurts. During these processes, they try to reduce the fat of the milk and make it more homogeneous, and this procedure causes yogurt to lose a certain amount of beneficial bacteria and probiotics. Cook the organic natural milk, which you bought with confidence, continue boiling, stirring for about 5 minutes after boiling begins. At this point, you can make a healthier yogurt by using a homemade yeast. After preparing your yogurt, keeping as a yeast in a refrigerator inside a container, will be handy for future recipes.
Is yogurt made with chickpea yeast?
There are several different methods of preparing homemade yeast, but our recommendation to prepare yogurt yeast from scratch at home, and our suggestion is that you use chickpeas. Put the chickpeas you beat into a medium-sized jar, with light coarse pieces remaining in an air. Add flour, warm water, and salt and mix well. The water level should be above the mixture around 3-4 fingers. Then keep the mixture in the jar in a warm place. After 12 hours, add a little more warm water and let it rest. The next morning, strain the chickpeas and use the foam on it, and you can use it in any recipe you want for a homemade yoghurt. Using chickpea yeast, you don't have to rely on a ready-made yeast. Organic and natural route is always better for you.
