Which fish is best in what season, and how should you cook it? The answer to your questions are in our article.

As we all know, fish is one of the most important nutrients for good health. It should be consumed twice a week. It is very rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D. It contains less carbohydrates and more phosphorus, zinc and iodine minerals. It is also rich in protein. 100 grams of fatty fish contain about 20 grams, and lean fish contains 10 grams of protein.

There is a right season for every fish. If you eat the fish on the right season it will be fresh and it will taste much better. This is as important as how you cook it.

Here are list of fishes you should eat each month

January - As the weather gets cooler, the best fishes to get this month are bluefish, bonito, mackerel, anchovy, and chub.

February - It is winter's richest month for fishes to eat. You can start eating turbot fish this month. Other fishes you can prefer are toric, anchovy, myrtle, mullet, and sea bass.

March - You can go ahead and start grilling turbot and whiting fish. Mullet, tongue, and seabass are also fishes you can eat this month.

April - Once the spring arrives turbot and whiting fish should be seen more on our tables. Other fish you may prefer are myrtle, cod, sea bass, mullet, and goby.

May - You can eat cod, red mullet, tongue fish, sea bass, swordfish, leer, tranca, and eel before the weather gets too hot.

June - As the weather gets warmer, fish diversity decreases. Sardines, groupers and tuna are among the fish you can choose in this period.

July - It is the most productive period for sardines. You can consume horse mackerel, and grouper as well.

August - The bonito season begins, but we recommend that you allow time for them to grow a little more. We recommend horse mackerel, and sardine too.

September - With the cooling of the weather and the lifting of the hunting ban, the time for the bonito fish comes. You can also choose red mullet, sea bream, swordfish, and horse mackerel.

October: This is the month in which the fish enter the abundance period. The fish you can choose are red mullet, sea bass, flounder, and bonito.

November: It is the month of the mackerel fish. You can eat mullet, and anchovy as well.

December: This is the best moth to eat anchovy. Mackerel, bonito will be oily, you can choose those as well.

Best cooking method for fishes

Fish can be cooked by frying, in the oven, on the grill, sautéed, boiled and steamed methods. It is important to choose the right method according to the type of fish and your taste. Here are our cooking tips for a few fish that you may like.

Pan Fry - It is the most common way of cooking fish. It is quick and easy to prepare. When frying, once one side is done, carefully flip the fish in hot oil so the other side is cooked well.

Grill - Gives great results with oily fish. Be sure to clean the grill, then brush it with a little oil so that the fish will not stick on the grill. The right amount of fire is important for grilling, so lighat a good fire and then let the fish cook.

Sauté - This is one of the easiest methods. Use olive oil to sauté the fish perfectly and make sure to preheat the cooking pan.

Steamed - Steaming fish without contact with water. It is a cooking method that protects the nutritional value of the fish. For extra flavors, add seasoning and ingredients such as lemon or ginger.

Oven - It is the ideal cooking method for larger fishes. Season the fish and cook at high temperature to reveal the flavor. To test whether the fish is cooked well, dip a fork or knife into the thickest part of the fish and turn it. You should be able to see that the meat begins to separate along its natural lines.
