Foods to Eat Based on Your Zodiac Sign
Have you heard about the zodiac diet? Eating certain foods depending on your zodiac sign is a thing, but should you? Here’s what you need to know.
There are many diets out there, but none are as interesting as the zodiac diet. We all have a zodiac sign depending on how the stars were aligned when we were born. Should you base your diet on your sign? Let’s find out.
There’s no doubt the zodiac diet is trending, but before you make significant changes to your lifestyle, let’s see what the zodiac diet is all about.
What Is a Zodiac Diet?
The zodiac diet is trending. The thing is, there’s not one zodiac diet but many. Every so-called expert has a different take on the unusual way of eating based on the stars above us.
Concisely, the zodiac diet recommends certain types of food to people depending on their birth date. The question is, is this diet for you? Spoiler alert: It isn’t, or is it?
How To Eat for Your Zodiac Sign?
Before we tell you more about this diet, know that basing your diet on the horoscope is not wise or safe. Although there’s no doubt we are all different and might have distinct nutritional needs, they are not based on your birth date.
On the plus side, we’ve analyzed and filtered the most popular nutritional advice based on the zodiac diet. You can follow these guidelines, even if they don’t correspond to your zodiac sign. Better yet, try them all, and find the right way of eating for yourself.
Aries (March 21-April 19)
The zodiac diet recommends a paleo diet for Aries based on whole grains and proteins with minimal processed food and carbohydrates.
Although the paleo diet has its benefits, it might not provide you with all the nutrients you need to stay strong and healthy. Yes, the paleo diet is rich in vegetables, fruit and nuts, but it doesn’t consider essential plant-based protein sources — legumes. Also, avoiding dairy products without substituting them with equally nutritious food might not be a good idea.
Taurus (April 20-May 20)
Most sources describing the zodiac diet suggest people with the Taurus zodiac sign should eat a high-protein, low-carb diet, including healthy fats and nutrient-rich foods.
However, be sure to consult your doctor before cutting carbohydrates from your meals. Avoiding sugar and simple carbohydrates is a good idea, but your body needs carbohydrates for energy.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
According to the zodiac diet, people with the Gemini sign have “two sides,” so they should satisfy their cravings while eating healthy at the same time if that’s even possible.
The Zodiac diet suggests finding a balance between eating healthy and occasionally indulging in slightly more unhealthy foods. If you are a Gemini and you actually feel this dilemma inside, then this nutritional advice may be right for you.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Apparently, people under the Cancer sign are emotional, meaning they might not make the best nutritional decisions. In this case, the zodiac diet advises eating plenty of vegetables and whole foods while avoiding red meat, processed foods, and dairy.
When in doubt, eat fresh, home-cooked meals and avoid fast food, whether you’re Cancer or not.
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Leo is a competitive and active sign, so it is suitable for a fit lifestyle with plenty of exercise and a healthy diet. According to the zodiac diet, Leo should consume vegetables with high iron content.
If you work out often and keep moving, you're probably in good shape. Make sure you eat well and avoid fast food.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Virgos are organized, meticulous and perfectionists. This can help you meet your health goals by planning your meals and doing thoughtful grocery shopping.
Keep a food journal and be mindful of the amount of junk food you allow yourself. If you’re not a Virgo but feel this advice works for you, then go for it. Stay on top of your game and plan yourself a healthier lifestyle.
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Apparently, Libras can be forgetful and have too much of a hectic lifestyle to eat healthily. If this is you, slow down and plan your meals, avoid ordering food at the last moment, and stay clear from takeout, fast food and other junk.
Plan your meals, cook in advance, favor home-cooked meals, and don’t let your zodiac sign tell you what you can or can’t do.
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
This constellation suggests you are an overthinker who can act on emotion if provoked. This might lead to unhealthy food decisions, impulse eating and generally poor choices.
If this is you, keep healthy snacks around to prevent you from following your scorpion-like behavior, and avoid eating out, especially if there aren’t healthy alternatives near you. Think before you eat and make smart choices.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Half horse, half human, if you are Sagittarius, the zodiac diet suggests you can’t be tamed, and there’s a big chance you don’t listen to advice.
In that case, follow your instinct and try to feed your animal and human sides with wholesome meals. At the very least, avoid processed foods and simple carbs. As a Sagittarius, you are also an archer, so choose your target wisely.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
According to the zodiac diet, those born under the Capricorn sign are not foodies but functional eaters looking to nourish themselves without overthinking it.
Although we seriously doubt every person born in the tastiest season of the year feels that way, if you are genuinely uninterested in food, at least ensure you eat the right way. Food doesn’t have to be exciting if you don’t want to but make it healthy at least.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Those born under the Aquarius constellation are adventurers and truth seekers. In that case, unleash your adventurous side and try different food, experiment with distinct cooking methods and look for new ways to satisfy your hunger healthily.
Step out of your comfort zone and try new things. We never know where your new favorite food will come from.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Pisces might be forgetful and can give little importance to their eating habits. At least that’s what the horoscope says. In this case, try to create strong health habits — repetition is your friend. Eat veggies and whole food, and avoid processed food, sugar and unhealthy fats. Eat mindfully, and you will be one healthy fish.
