Recipes with Bacon

Bacon is cured meat from the pork belly and it is a very common breakfast dish especially in United States. Bacon is a delicatessen product usually obtained from the back, stomach, or flank area of a pig. There are generally two types. Bacon made from meat on the back of the pig is known as "Canadian Bacon". It looks more like a ham. Bacon made with fatty meat taken from the belly of the pig is called "Streaky Bacon".

The ratio of sodium, fat and saturated fat is high in bacon. High sodium is a risk factor for high blood pressure. In addition, consumption of excess saturated fat can cause heart problems and cholesterol. It has a salty, fatty, crunchy and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Although it is consumed especially for breakfast in America, it is used for lunch and dinner.

It is used as an ingredient in eggs, sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts.Bacon and pancetta are similarly dried meats. Both meats are prepared from the belly of the pork. Pancetta is not smoked, bacon is smoked. Both should be cooked before consumption.
