  5. Top patties with a slice of swiss cheese each and allow to sit on the grill (lid closed) for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melty.
  6. Assemble burgers by arranging any desired toppings on the bottom half of each bun, then following up with the cheesy burger patty, and topping with the mushrooms and top half of the bun. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • To make dividing the meat easier, after mixing in a bowl, push meat down to make an even layer. Using your finger, make a dent in the center. Using this point draw a cross. There you have it, 4 equal burger patties.
  • When you have your burgers patted out, make an indention with your thumb, many say that this will help your burger not shrink so much.
  • You can also use your bun to make the patties. If you make your patties a ¼ inch larger than your buns, they typically shrink to the same size.
  • If you do not want the extra piece, feel free to omit the slice on top of the burger itself.
  • Do not overcook the mushroom mixture as the garlic can taste bitter if overcooked.
